What a fabulous book ! And it’s all down to Eleanor, a wonderful, quirky, original character. A character that you won’t forget in a hurry.
Eleanor has her very unique way of looking at the world and reacting to everyday occurrences. She is both maddeningly stubborn and endearing. Truth be told I trust there is a bit of all us in Eleanor. But she is brave enough to act on it !
A very moving story, at times hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, never dull.
Do read it, you won’t regret it.
A wonderful book with a new take on a well-worn premise : a widowed father falls for a young busty blonde and meets his grown children’s wrath. Add to that that the father’s life ambition is to complete a book on the history of tractors in Ukranian and you have a fun-filled comedy of manners.
A light-hearted way to brush up on Soviet and Ukranian history while pondering the limits of adult children meddling in older parents’ lives.
Marina LEWYCKA has a wicked sense of humor and I am clamoring for more.
I had so much fun reading reading this book. It’s light, breezy, well-written and I fell in love with the characters. Not to mention the plush California setting !
An honest account of what it was like to be Princess Leia, quirks, foibles and love included.
This book stayed with me long after I finished it. Funny and poignant at the same time it hits all the tender spots of a long-term relationship.
A great read on a very dysfunctional family. Kept turning the pages and lost a couple of nights sleep on it !
